This is a YA fantasy about the journey of these two witches on opposing sides. Once they meet they realize they share somewhat of a common interest. And they decide to work together.

Until one of them stabs the other in the back!

Sorry got carried away.

But the themes of betrayal and hunger for powers is vert strong in this one. Perfect to add to your list of witchy books for fall. Even though the worldbuilding is super rich, at times it can be sort of confusing.

I did write a review of Witches steeped in gold here if you want to get a more indepth idea of the characters and the plot.

But reading this is an experience, It will make you feel like you’ve been transported to a magical realm just in time for autumn.

2. A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

I have not read this book yet which I told myself I would but I got too excited and started with the Tv show first. And so far The worldbuilding does a really good job with blending history and romance with witchcraft.

The only problem some readers may have, I’m not sure if this is only for the show, but the pacing feels super slow. Like we’re never going to get to the part that grabs you as a reader. There are a few standouts here and there but then there’s a lull.

The premise is this witch who, while her studies in the library, she finds a long- lost manuscript that nobody has ever been able to get ahold of. So now that she has- people want ahold of her.

If you don’t mind a slow paced read I would say to consider the magical themes this book has to offer. Diana, the witch in question, goes on a journey of finding what happened to her parents and discovering that her powers are way stronger than she ever knew.

3. The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow

This takes place in 1893 where there are no witches. yet. But ever since the burnings witching has been nothing but a tale now. something of the past. But then these three sisters join the suffragists of New Salem movement. And the way they go about things this movement might turn into a witchhunt.

They use witchcraft to reclaim their power in a world where witches are silenced. This empowering narrative is a must-read among witchy books for fall, emphasizing themes of sisterhood and rebellion in a beautifully written tale.

5. Hollow Heathens by Nicole Fiorina

Hollow Heathens is about a young woman who was taken from her home as a baby. Only to return 24 years later, to take care of her last living relative. And as she’s there, she cant help but feel like everything’s familiar.

Especially with a guy she’s been told not to go near. A witchy tale that blends elements of mystery and witchcraft as a young woman uncovers the dark past of her town. It has a super haunting narrative that it makes it an excellent choice for witchy books for fall. Perrfect for readers who enjoy a bit of spookiness with their magic.

6. The London Séance Society by Sarah Penner

This historical novel feels like a witchy sluething type of book because it combines witchcraft and mystery. Vaudeline D’Allaire is a known spiritualist who conjure the spirits of murder victims to identify the ones who killed them. Investigators often come to her for aid in solving their case.

Lenna Wickes is a woman who comes to paris because she wants to find out who murdered her sister. This has a super intriguing plot and dark atmosphere. There’s suspense mixed in with supernatural.

7. When Among Crows by Victoria Roth

I’m not super famiiar with the mythology of Baba Yaga- I read One for my enemy and it was following that myth loosely. But when Among Crows follows two characters. One who has been raised to slay monsters with a sword that was made from a part of his soul.

And then a woman who was inherited a family curse, when her mother passed that causes her to witness horrors committed by the holy order.

If you have seen The vampire diaries think of when Bonnie was the anchor and people had to pass through her when they died. Not the same but sort of similar. If you love the supernatural vibes then this witchy book if for you.

8. The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco
